Withholding a weeks Pay

I haven’t had time to look at the Welcome center portal through Optum and I saw they are going to withhold one’s week pay for the April 14th deposit! What do they except us to do?! How am I supposed to pay my bills? No bonus and higher premium rates! Us employees work so hard but giving nothing. I’m so upset.

This is the most thoughtless acquisition driven by corporate greed and complete disregard for the human element. It seems to be a take it or leave it approach where people are expendable. They just don't seem to care as the human element doesn't exist. What they seem to forget is that the people do the work and have value. They have destroyed Change Healthcare and they are losing customers; they can't leave fast enough. So value and prioritize yourself and get out. Find a company that truly cares about its people and its customers.

Yes in April your payroll for the month will only be 3 weeks in total. One week on the first deposit and 2 weeks on the second deposit. The next deposit for payroll isn’t until May. So April exempt employees will be a week short of pay and the first biweekly pay starts for the April 28th deposit so that will be also be smaller payroll deposit going from 26 to 24 payroll deposits. Then on top of that Optum has already had one of two 3 deposit payroll months for the year the other isn’t until the fall. So exempt employees are getting a triple burn in April and Leadership is mute. It’s shameful.

Yes they are withholding a weeks pay for exempt employees. The end of the month on Apr 28 you are only get paid from April 9-22)…exempt employees are “live salary” so on the bimonthly payroll dates the date of the deposit is the date you are paid up too. In the transition moving to biweekly the payroll lags a week behind.

I don't think they are holding a week's pay, only as part of transition from 24 to 26 pay period cycle there is a change. Exempt will get Mar 31 (for Mar 16-31) then on Apr 14 (for Apr 1-8). These are CHC and then it will move to UHC, Apr 28 (for Apr 9-22) and then May 12 (for Apr 23- May 6)
Similar timelines for Non-exempt, not sure where they are holding a week's pay? Am I missing anything?

Yes for exempt employees payroll is being held for one week on the April 14 payday. The pay will include dates April 1-8 on the April 14th deposit. It’s awful.. I know several people who don’t know what they are going to do.

Yes they are withholding a weeks salary for salaried employees. It’s wrong and add not only are some of us going to lose a weeks pay they are taking exempt statuses away and moving to hourly. When you move from bimonthly to biweekly we are going from 24 pay periods to 26 lowering the deposit amounts. It’s wrong and Leadership has been hush hush about which is also wrong. The company should have figured something out. The no bonus was a tough pill to swallow. I believe by the first week of April you will see allot of folks putting in two weeks notices.

From what I am seeing it doesn’t look like they are holding a weeks pay- you will get a paycheck April 7 (from CHC for time worked March 18-31) April 21 (from CHC for time worked April 1-8) and again on April 28 (from UHG for time worked April 9-22) May 12 (from UGH for time worked April 23-May 6)

Well, what do you expect? UHG only made a profit of $4.76 billion in the latest quarter! Cut them some slack.
