Will likely be hard to get. Fundraising while proselytizing is not a popular activity on that side of the pond.

Intel can no longer get people to voluntarily invest. Now demanding handout money to be extracted from populations by force.

@gux That is true. TSMC also has large scale. Intel has also spent billions on stock buybacks.

Obviously these governments should pay. China and Taiwan govt have invested so much in TSMC, so why is it so wrong to expect western govt to also invest as much if not more.

Nothing is free.

New buildings should have rfid reders on the toilet. You get 1 flush up to a certain body mass you get 1 extra "eco" flush. This will save on water

I have attended one of these German fab planning meetings. The whole thing was a shambles. FCE were given a budget to work to and they spent the whole meeting trying to take out as much scope as possible whereas the other stakeholders in the room were explaining why it needed to be kept in. Was quite remarkable to see depts in the same company squabbling with nothing achieved at the end of the 2 hour session. It was evident to me that there was no overall leader available to make any final decisions.

Intel needs an excuse to cancel this plan. We did not get the subsidy we asked for, so we couldn't do it.. Sorry!

i'm beginning to get the impression that intel is pushing germany to the point the germans just say no more so that intel can elegantly back out of this.

If they make the fitness centre smaller and defer the purchase of a cross trainer, reduce the number of EV chargers in the car-park and roll on two coats of paint instead of three, that should help get the costs down to target.
