Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Lowest level of TMG

I am overwhelmed at the gross lack of knowledge, lack of education, and poor quality of hire. Tech or OM or “engineer”…. Does any one truly understand how badly we are failing?

A resource is a resource. Skill is irrelevant. What makes the company more productive is having representation of gender and skin color that matches the general population. Just don't ask why that only applies in the US and not other countries where Intel operates.

@pch Maybe that works in your groups where you are deciding what color wallpaper the lobby needs, but for the real work you can't have 2 smart people and 8 geeks off tha street

Yes, a lot of competent senior staff have left, but a lot still remain. In my opinion, of those still here, about 50% have simply given up hope and have turned to "milking" out towards retirement.
This in turn has rolled down to the lowest levels of TMG who now ( & for a long time) lack serious leadership & real culture.

With the right inspiration and some of these individuals could be motivated back into gear to step up & lead once more. They may deserve being made redundant in some peoples eyes but that's just giving them the easy out which doesn't help the company at all.

Having worked at intel for over 16 years, I can say that you really only need 1-2 “smart” engineers in your group of say 10-12 ppl team.

The rest of the group just has to be reliable/dependable.

If you have a group of all “smart” engineers you end u with everyone disagreeing w/ each other and then nothing really gets done.

Not sure @xzx. Intel has been in printing money monopoly mode for a long time. Most of the competent senior people have left....

Whilst I slightly agree with your statement to a point, I would ask, why come with issues instead of a proposal or solutions?

How would you ensure top quality candidates at low risk/pay rate packages?

Or would you offer a top dollar pay cheque to anyone that can bloat their way through an interview?

You can thank the push to hire only DEI candidates instead of the best qualified.
