Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

About half of the PEs, tech leads, technical mgmt I have worked with at Intel absolutely have to have their grubby hands in everything. The problem is that they don't understand anything unless it is specifically explained to them. Somehow they will make you feel stupid after you have explained everything to them in multiple ways so that they get it. So yes, in a sense they are a jack of all trades Leonardo DaVinci, but not in a useful sense for a highly specialized technical endeavor. More like as a master manipulator that thrives in a polical or business environment. Almost a psychopathic tendency to infiltrate an organization. So I guess thanks Andy for this wonderful institution Intel.

Yeah, the bad ones move around with their sr director or VP who made them a PE. Their BS will be called if they work in other places :)

"It's principal because they're your pal." That will help you remember how to spell it. As to what it is, it's not knowing the little details of your technology that you so prize. It's having the engineering discipline to know what should be done. There are a lot of things you can learn from this person, regardless of the technology they worked on previously. If you think being principal is how much you have learned about a certain tech, then you should probably look into what the role requires.

Sure a good PowerPoint Editor can easily move around different groups, technologies and pickup where other PEs left off.
