Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Upcoming Workforce Reductions?

What is everyone hearing about more upcoming workforce reductions? I’m hearing rumors of more coming in June/ July timeframe but those are strictly rumors. Wondering if anyone else is hearing anything.

The Next Round once they Finish with EMEA this month, will be Late May/ Early June. Will Also be 5% , Taking the Total to 10%. 60% will come from the overlaps in Management and mostly Ex EMC Staff (If any are Left) with remainder Spread out and This time will Likely Be Done With Consultation(Unlike the 1st Round) and will start with VR for the Non Management Peeps.

Your life will have past you by before you know it and all you’re thinking about are continuous layoffs which are prevalent in tech these days.

Who cares. If you’re made redundant then find a new job. Until then get on with the job you have.

Layoffs have been a constant at Dell since the early 2000’s. They’ll slowly slice the 165k employee count in phases in order to not freak out the market and further reduce the stock price. You’ll see a large one like they just did at 6.5k again but most likely a smaller bulk layoff that is recurring that actually totals out to much larger than 6.5k. This will help keep the reductions out of the news.

Layoffs have been going on since last fall and are continuing to happen in EMEA and other areas that were part of the wave at the start of the fiscal year in February due to local laws. I would expect continued alignment work to happen that collapses redundancies and combines like functions with some more targeted trimming in the next couple months. If Q1 and Q2 are worse than projected, there may be more cuts at the end of Summer.

Things will likely pick back up towards the end of the year.

I just spoke with a senior manager who mentioned that more are coming next quarter. They couldn't say too much since they signed NDA

ISG services is going to see more wfr spread across the quarters the rest of the year. Less than 100 planned at this time.

That’s been mentioned on here before but no one seems to have any hard information. Just lots of “I heard this and that”
