Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Rotten Culture

Intel held on for a long time, but sooner or later you still have to execute. Manufacturing cant execute- low quality mangers who dont care. Techs who are lazy. Engineering has software called workpace that makes them stop typing of they type too fast, take microbreaks every 5 minutes, and mandatory 5-minute stretch breaks every 30 minutes.

The company does NOT value prodictivity.

I used to be here for the tech and challenge.
Now I am just here for the paycheck.

Intel health and safety & protocol programs rule the fabs with an iron policy.

They have gone so over the top that they have lost any element of common sense and have created huge barriers to productivity in our factories. Every non standard task comes up against so much red tape it just gets put on hold for 12hrs so it can be completed in the middle night shift when these enforcers are tucked into their beds.

I posted the instructions on how to disable Workpace here - > @apf+1ltDZCh3.

That is what I did to disable WP when I worked at Intel, if you uninstall it then I.T. will reinstall it.

If it was tracking me I didn't care, I work at my own pace and take breaks when necessary, I don't need an app to remind me.

Workpace is just another example of Intel telling you to go faster and do more with less, then throw unnecessary hurdles into your path. I am so glad I don't there anymore.

Pat is trying really hard to fix this hot mess of a disaster.

All this rotten culture comes from the blessings of the ex CEOs who either focused on dividends or sleeping with their secretaries. Why is Pat being held accountable for all this?

Does any of this matter? Like more than half the people I work with are idle for hours at a time and I’m not talking around lunch hour!

It really is a joke when you look at outside companies. Intel has tons of finance and supply chain people, all the random m&a folks, Chief TA’s on and on and on. Literally the intel ratio for these sg&a costs is about 10:1 to their peers!

Is all this needed to support a PC business?

Workpace is how intel tracks there employees, it's not just to prevent intel from ergo related lawsuits. It doubles as a tracking software for the company

If you ki-l WP in TM, won't it throw off the usage metrics? (there won't be any data there) So if your GL looks, they may think you aren't doing anything.

I am an ET. We take 2hrs of breaks in a 12.5hr shift. We rarely have to pass things down, because we are on it. Few to no quality issues on my team. (no scrap for a very long time) When I was on the floor, depending on the shift, we took 3-5hrs of breaks in the same time. No raises are usually given for this ET, "Promotion." More stress and less breaks, but I prefer it, because we can work remotely. Don't even get me started on workpace..micromanagement to the nth degree.

It’s been several years since I left Intel.
Lol workpace sounds like some dystopian he-l.

As if engineering isn’t hard enough.
Now you have to deal with nagware?

Glad I left when I did.
Jesus Christ! Lol

As if there weren't enough irritating distractions when trying to actually get something done at Intel, they had to force Workpace on everyone. The time and effort management put into getting as many people as possible running it, like it was one of the companies top priorities...

The fantastic thing about Workpace was it constantly reminded you that it was time to update your resume.

Workpace can be disabled, just ki-l it in taskmanager and rename the executable so it can’t launch again when the computer is restarted.
