Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Reason for Layoffs Announced

I heard there was a big meeting with Exec VP Aneesh Sharma yesterday. Apparently Gainwell received $6.1 million from the board eight months ago to put toward business development efforts. They used that money to hire people. The money has run out and the company can’t afford to keep everyone. That’s why we were laid off. 29 total from Sales, Product, and Proposals were let go.

Jan 2024, laid off with same day notice. You are not allowed to apply for any open positions. You have to wait six months! Bullcr-p…retain talent. WFR- some AI plays roulette and randomly selects employees to let go. Supposedly, which never happen, your manager was supposed to fill out a profile for each employee to show worth, regardless of performance.

I am one of those folks that got laid off. My boss had no idea. It was like they were picking people randomly from a hat. I was part of a team where there is only one other person who can run the system besides myself. He is now there working alone on salary 70-80 hours a week with out a bonus. Yes we did not get bonuses last year. At least us underlings did not get one. My boss fought to bring me back because he said I was critical for the daily functions of the corporate office and they aske him if he wanted to leave with me. I was with the company for 3years as a contractor then they hired fulltime in 2022. I quit a good well paying job so I could be with my team at Gainwell. Only to be laid off and only given one week severance. It was so unfair. I do not believe anyone will take the blame or step up and be accountable. They don't do that in upper management there. It is sad because my team was the best team ever. I loved them like a family.

there is no accountability! GW is top heavy! I was employed for less than 9 months and saw 200 in delivery get canned and then my job was eliminated along with almost 100 others! "business decision!" at least i got 2 weeks notice! the group that was canned this month got 2 DAYS!!!! I really loved my job and the people that i worked with! my manager had nothing but positive feedback and we met weekly or biweekly! imo, the states and companies who have contracts with GW should either dissolve the contract or not renew!

2nd underground secret layoff in a year. Expect more to come. Paid to much to bring people over from DXC and HPe and now they are burning through cash. Messed up because these people haven't been unemployed in years and they are more Sr. in age then young. One guy had 2 kids in college so what does he do now.

You can’t expect them to be able to continue to afford failed contracts with millions in losses. You sign a labor contract and labor cost go thru the roof due to poor requirements and lack of trained resources. Your requirements aren’t ironclad, contract terms open-ended and the cost to build or integrate is suddenly in the millions instead of thousands. My sympathy is for those who will now have to work incredible hours to support the contract failures and overruns. Of course, you have to layoff; the people who sold those deals have their money and are gone. C’est la vie!!

Do you mean Aneesh Kumar? I agree this was very shameful and the leaders should be held accountable. Especially with giving people a day notice and very little severance.

As previous poster said, they recruit folks away from good jobs.. just to let them go months later. Very shameful Gainwell.

The Exec VP said he didn’t realize the $6.1 million was a one-off payment. He said it was a “learning experience” for him. Shameful. Gross negligence if you ask me. I’ve heard about this meeting from multiple people still at Gainwell. It’s shameful. People let go while he faces no repercussions from his mistake. We suffer and he will end up with a bonus.

I wonder where the accountability is for those who misspent the money? They recruit folks away from good jobs with promises of great pay and rewarding work. Then they terminated them a few months later with little severance and a shrug—a very poor corporate environment.
