This is what happens when you promote people for failing upwards in the company. CS is a toxic do nothing and has been since day 1. Absolutely useless except for promoting herself as being good at her job. May she choke on a cheese curd.
Forty American Girl employees were let go with this last round. A few from the call center who had been with the company for nearly 25 years. It seems that if you are 20+ years with AG, your job is more than likely heading for the chopping block. Additionally, the company (Mattel) is planning to focus more "experiential retail experiences" in their AG stores, which is being read as they will be focusing on the larger stores (NY, Chicago, LA) and closing more of their smaller stores when the leases are up. The Houston and San Fran stores were closed in Feb this year.

I've been gone from AG for several years, but I'd heard that a director of purchasing/planning that had been with AG since pre-Mattel was let go. It's too bad, she was one of the good ones.
