Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Thank you, layoff.com, for providing a safe space for me to unload my baggage

What have I learned from this forum?

When someone says something positive and remotely intelligent about Teradata, this group is quick to denounce and downvote them, and claim thay are hr or ELT - even if the individual explicitly states multiple times they are not (did you really read that post, and believe that is something that NC would actually say? He doesn't even talk like that!)

When someone claims that the worthless ELT is just milking this place for paychecks, there is often someone else that comes along and says "that is why we should quiet quit!". Hello pot, my name is kettle!

When someone says that the management at taradata has no clue what they are doing, there is usually a comment or thread about the same time highlighting a clear lack of understanding how the market works, how trading works, or how valuation is determined

When someone claims that the new product is too little too late, or that RG is a conman, there is always someone to come along and gloriously state he was our savior, and the team that worked on it knew exactly what they were doing but were the victims of an ignorant leadership team

When someone posts a random childhood rhyme, or a movie quote, which could be interpreted as the demise of Teradata, it will be heavily upvoted, All while emotionally bashing the place that obviously still holds a significant amount of weight in their everyday lives

What have I learned from this forum? That it is endless supposition, with very little fact, evidence or experience, but chock full of emotional lash outs that really don't help anybody in the end. ....and it is entertaining and fascinating

Is this your first time in America? Seems like you are naive about how forums work.

@1pij+1lkxSPIE- indeed that is the intention of many forums. My post was intended to highlight that is not true for this specific forum, as exemplified by the post below, where the commenter started that people who love Teradata should not be on this site.

I would appreciate healthy debate around individual views on this forum. Until then, my intent in visiting and commenting is to point out the inaccuracies, hypocrisy, or plain lack of understanding in some of these posts. I am far from miserable! I am thoroughly entertained, and obviously optimistic about Teradata's future. If anything, some of these posts make me want to work even harder. I'm just a cog in the wheel, but still going to keep giving my best. I still believe in this company and it's people, so after over a decade, why would I let up now?

@OP, you are complaining about the very purpose of every forum (a place for sharing different views and ideas, and having a debate about it), meaning which ever forum you enter and what ever you read, there would always be at least one opinion different than yours.
But if you feel this particular forum has no value to you and makes you miserable, just move on, you’ll be much happier reading something else.

If the ELT really wanted to hear from employees and established a culture to support that we would not have to use this site. You may actually get educated on issues and root causes rather that pretend they don’t exist. Like all the issues with Vantage Lake. It is going to be a disaster if more customers try to use it.

OP why are you even on this site if you love Teradata and its management and products? Looks like someone needs to get honest with themself.

"this group is quick to denounce and downvote them, and claim thay are hr or ELT - even if the individual explicitly states multiple times they are not"

Because I am sure the ELT and HR will gladly admit it when called out? A flat denial from a random poster on the internet, is hardly convincing!
