Thread regarding Change Healthcare layoffs

How come more people don’t know about layoffs?

So I was trying to look up an old friend on teams and I realized she was missing. So I texted her and come to find out she was laid off last week. She stated she was the only one who was laid off from her team.
This is the first that I’ve heard about layoffs at change. I figured with optum merger there might be some… I keep reading on here that the last one will be March 9th.
And that an email was sent out with PTO and such today. I didn’t get that email but I still have access to the optum benefits site and integration.
I’m confused… where are y’all all hearing this from?
I asked my team leads a month ago and they said they haven’t heard anything.
I’m worried… I just started working at this company in June 2022.

I’m attending the benefits meeting right now for UHG. There’s almost 1000 people on this call. I can’t believe they’re gonna lay off these people soon??? If these rumors are soon.

I don’t even know if I should listen to this meeting either. What if I’m not here after march 9th? 🙄

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would've joined CHC after the acquisition was announced. Of course there are those who desperately need a job, but other than that, just doing your basic due diligence would raise a bunch of red flags. When a large company like CHC is absorbed into an entity like Optum/UHG, thousands of positions become redundant. Optum is acquiring the TECHNOLOGY, not the human cap. You are expendable at best. As former MHS, we heard that the Change culture had some toxic elements -- carryovers from Oracle Health. And, yes, the old MHS culture (which, honestly, was a lot more collaborative and collegial) was erased following the acquisition. But all that was nothing compared to rumblings about Optum and how f'ed up that culture was. So we left. Sorry for those who remained and are now facing termination, and also for those who joined CHC in the '21-'22 timeframe thinking that it could be a viable career path. Only for a select (very) few. Good luck all!

Change Healthcare employees are totally demoralized and are being RIFed in waves large and small. It’s obvious that if Optum already has folks that do the task you do and you’re at Change, you’re just not needed. Like, just be real. If you owned these companies you don’t need two of everything either. It’s not personal, just money for the new owners, and the few winners that will be left. Congrats NDC- big win for you and yours!

While awfully distasteful it’s just the way it is. I just explained this to my husband and kids and even they understand it’s time to make changes and tighten our belts. Just be real.

I started working here in June. I literally only have been here 8 months. I wanted to stay at least a year so I could get experience and then get a better job with better pay somewhere else….. I’ve already been laid off before once before the pandemic and I’d really like to not be laid off again !

They are also being very inconsistent with severance packages.

I hope today’s NLRB’s ruling puts Optum on blast on social media including LinkedIn on how they have been handling this. They always do this to acquired organizations who ultimately turn to sh-t. They’re the Google of healthcare (biggest company in the industry who constantly ki-l acquired companies).

Basically today’s ruling means that companies can't require employees to waive their rights as part of a severance agreement. This includes speaking up.

They are intentionally not communicating about layoffs, and they keep those laid off from telling others by prohibiting them from talking to others about it. Someone who was laid off on Feb 9 was told they will jeopardize their severance package if they divulge any of the details. People are afraid to talk. So we’re learning through the grapevine who’s being eliminated. Optum sucks. So does Mr de Crescenzo, with all his empty promises that CHC employees would have opportunities at Optum.

My team believes that there will be another layoff on the 9th and April 9th. They don't know who until day off, it could even be them. Everything on here had been pretty accurate. We've lost our floating holidays as well.
