Sounds like 1500 contractors are getting laid off along with some management at Kearl.

That's because its sold.
Think about it.
Spouse was laid off today, was a contractor working for a company at Imperial Oil - Kearl.
I'm at QP with downstream and heard nothing until now. So much for culture propaganda, transparancy, blah blah blah. this company just becoming more sneaky towards it's workers.
How many contractors affected...?? My hear goes to those affected, hope they find companies that treat them better

Fake News. To the contrary, Imperial is hiring, not laying people off.
Can someone fact check? How come no rumblings at QP?
Is this real news or fake?
Sure seems like it. They're not very transparent right now.
Is this the first step towards selling Kearl?
Shell did a similar thing at Albian, before selling it to CNRL.
There is way too much redundant overload management. They need to trim that fat asap.
All being replaced by BTC, MSP and other Low Cost Centers.
Welcome to Imperial.
Good Canadian company.
Not just Kearl but many business segments, as well as the Corporate functions are over-staffed and over-paid. Don't believe me, read the proxy statement filed with the SEC. The 5 named execs had a "record" year with respect to their compensation - thanks to favorable market conditions.
I heard 1500 today as well. Maybe they haven't got to them all yet or it's across Imperial.
Kearl contractors get paid way too much.
It’s time to trim the fat.
8-900 is still a huge number. That sucks.
It is more like 8-900 all getting notice in the last few days.
Isn't that half of the population? Seems extreme, especially after record profits. Where did you hear this?
