Oh sure, and the hits will just keep on coming. Layoffs won't really help with the dividend.

The cash needed to fund all the fabs the new CEO has broken ground on will consume all dividends and much much more. BTW, can someone please ask Sandra how in the he-l her group is losing money when it is in the most profitable segment Intel competes in.

Anyway, Intel debt was downgraded last week and just after Intel raised $11 Billion. This is a very bad sign. The company is doing this as a safety net in case the revenue and margins don't improve. The next 3 quarters are going to be really bad. Pat is an optimist and he doesn't want to wax any more workers if he can avoid it... but, the simple fact of the matter is that the pandemic pulled demand forward and so consumers won't be buying. Corporations won't be buying either because they tighten CapEx budget when the recession storm approaches. Fubar.

This situation is so bad that even Captain Kirk, who re-programmed the machine to beat the 'Kobayashi Maru' scenario at Star Trek's Starfleet Academy wouldn't survive beyond Q4. Good luck team and keep it real!
