Trusting the manager

I see that I am not the only one here with a manager who tries to make employees believe that there is nothing to worry about and that we can feel safe. How much can we trust a manager like that? I'll keep on sending my resumes.

Our manager knows nothing. Comes and goes whenever. There early and late hours but not there during the day how is that managing the employees? Best friends and family members under them. Favorite at its finest.

The ratio of good to bad managers is about the same as the employees under them. I know of some great managers and some who I wouldn't trust babysitting a goldfish.

Layoffs suck, and we should all know the warning signs. You shouldn't need to be warned to know when they're coming. Like when you lose a massive and long lived network. Dust off the resume and know better jobs are out there.

Good luck everyone!

Do not ever trust a manager. Most are not bad people but their primary objective is to take care of themselves. Similarly, you need to take care of yourself.

There are plenty of managers who as far as they know see no impact to their depts. directors and vps have already done the workforce mgmt and dept savings dance. Others may know but cannot say. Most managers are good people and not out to get anyone.

Managers, if aware of bad news, should never act or say “everything is normal”. But then what you expect from a company where CEO was sued by the empire of corruption: China. LOL

I disagree, not all managers are this way. There are managers who have to follow the guidelines set and often in the position where they are unable to tell communicate info deemed as confidential, before the official announcement. I think the issue is that it is often forgotten that this is a job. The people you work with aren't family or friends, so if you remember that it is business and you look out for self, none of this would surprise you . Is it hard? Yes! Is it difficult to witness , experience or even act on? For some , yes for others maybe not.

I have ZERO respect for my manager! I've written him up three times for hostility, discrimination and flat out falsifying that he has the credentials to be a manager! That is one thing you can count on with UHG is that they DO NOT know how to hire true leadership! Toxic culture! Quite Quitting!
