Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Maybe it has nothing to do with being remote but the fact that this mediocre company decided years ago that skills were no longer a determining factor in promotions or career opportunities. For example, look at the brain drain in claims on the east coast over the past 5 years. The company either laid off the talented employees or refused to promote them. They made it clear that they value paying a much lower salary to employees who have a mediocre level of talent. Maybe your “slacking” problem has to do with keeping around all the untalented “slackers”. I worked for this company for 24 years and when it became apparent that talent was no longer being valued, I jumped to a much better opportunity. Other companies still recognize and are tracking hard work, industry knowledge, and creativity around problem solving. Unfortunately this company decided to go in another direction for some reason.

There are people who relocated that are required legally to be in their home state, because Becky Decapple said "go for it."

It's nonsense : leave where you need to work including on-site locations whether offices or courts or quit --this isn't a charity and I'm tired of doing work for people who moved out of state in 1 year Covid plandemic.

My boss has no idea what I’m doing daily. I have my keyboard set so it appears I’m always on it, I closed my viewer on my computer so they can’t see me….. been doing this for almost 2 years, if they knew what I was doing, I’m sure something would have been said by now!!!

Home. Most offices have been shut down plus they micromanage us and know exactly what we’re doing every second of every day.

I have NO interest in returning to any office, Allstate allowing me to WFH allows me to nap for 3-4 hours a day.

There are many companies that are not getting in the news who are telling their employees to come back to the office 2-3 times per week, if not they are being laid off. There are other ones who are telling the employees they need to be back in the office 2-3 days or as needed, well one of my friends has been in the office 5 days a week for several months due to this.

Just my opinion- but I think over the next five years many companies will bring the majority of folks back to the office.

You can't blame them on the real estate taxes thing especially with the election outcome. Scary stuff for Chicago.

@skd+1lYnsEcK Sorry Allstate does not care of getting sued. In fact they get sued every day according to Tom Wilson. The leadership in this company are accountable to no one. Thus, we have the situation Allstate is now in (unprofitable, disenchanted employees, and a lack of identity.)

They ain’t keeping you at home out of the goodness of their pea pickin hearts. The only reason you are sitting on your couch all day is because Allstate doesn’t want to get sued for giving anyone COVID. They also found out how much money the C suite can pocket for not having to pay real estate fees no more. Grow a pair.
