So, 30% to be RIF'ed across all levels! Some sites already asking for volunteers. Better raise your hand before they reduce the severance package.

I'm guessing it's an HAMR announcement from Seagate that "Tommorow it comes out"

"As a result of this progress, we now expect to launch our 30-plus terabyte platform in the June quarter, slightly ahead of schedule," said Mosley. "The speed of the initial HAMR volume ramp will depend on a number of factors, including product yields and customer qualification timelines."

Licensing the IP crown jewels? Most of our own company doesn't know squat about HAMR. But since he gave away way too much previous IP crown jewels to that LiDAR company and then some, I could totally believe it. Desperation mode is ON.

  1. Wuxi factory closing down
  2. SSDC virtual DC closing down

These two should be in the priority action list

They need to license Seagate IP on HAMR technology to WD and Toshiba so that customers will have two or three suppliers to choose from if they want HAMR for their projects.

Combining? Ha, there is a comment for that: "Two Turkeys Do Not Make An Eagle".
But at this point anything is possible.

Hmm. Let me see what could be announced that would be shocking at this point. Another layoff. Nope. Design center closing. Hmm. Nope. An IT department with their heads out their ... laptops. Not a freakin chance. WD and Seagate combining. Now that would be worth the wait. You heard the rumor here first.
