Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Today is the day!

Today is the day a couple thousand Intel employees worldwide will be terminated, myself included. Intel is focused on nothing but getting people off-the-books. Over the past 9 weeks, my "proxy manager" has averaged about 950 direct reports. All she does is send out mass e-mails and electronic documents. She doesn't respond to e-mails or Teams messages. In fact, nobody in HR has responded any inquiries outside of AskHR, which of course is either an actual robot, or if you escalate, you can chat or talk to a person that might as well be a robot.

Of course Pat and Christy ensure we're being treated with dignity and respect. Apparently they equate dignity and respect to being herded and butchered like cattle.

Too late for the OP and his/her cohort of ex-Intelliers, but ... if you're female/have a female in your life, don't forget to avail yourselves of the free tamp-ns in the ladies' rooms before you go. Those things are expensive. Friend of mine and I were laid off in 2019 and every time we went to campus after getting the news we'd do a round of the bathrooms. I still have a couple gallon-sized ziplocs full.

Intel is a flunkey fest. Get out and do some real work and learn some proper skills.

Re: What kind of severance and are you still allowed to file for unemployment.

The severance is widely known. All employees get 4 weeks + 1.5 weeks per year of service and 12 months of COBRA for health/dental/vision. Exempt employees get payout for accrued sabbatical time. Non-exempt employees also get payout unused vacation and payout for personal absence time above 80 hrs.

If you happen to live in an uber-liberal state, you you get paid for unused vacation and even if you're exempt. Intel flaunts their liberal polices and narratives, but doesn't apply it to all employees (even across the USA) because it costs them more. Do you really think they believe the narratives they are promoting?

Yes, you can file for unemployment if you are in CPM, even if you are retirement-eligible by Intel's standards.

Life's too short to spend your days working for a poorly managed company that no longer appreciates your contributions. I've been there and experienced it, and have been much much happier since leaving.

As the saying goes, when one door closes and other door opens, it's true!.

@nsw+1lUbLXm8 I have been parts of organizations where managers have and do respond to Teams and personal email. When you don’t have time says it all. Not surprised as Intel is a cluster these days

So you expected that a manager with 950 reports would respond to individual queries. Hmm ..

Congratulations to all those leaving Intel. You will look back on this day is the start of a new and better beginning. Get out before the Intel diarrhea covers you!

I was treated worst than $hit when they kicked me out a few years ago after giving so much to the company. My bosses who I worked for for decades didn’t give a $hit, of course they and many of the other leaders are gone after their failures and arrogance.

Intel’s descent to irrelevance is sad but not surprising giving the culture of arrogance and entitlement thru much of the company.
