First the Edge and now:
Ford Motor Company is recalling one Lincoln Nautilus crossover over insufficient welds. The automaker is also recalling 18 2023 Ford Edge models for the same issue.
The defect: in the affected vehicle, the child seat tether wire welds on the second-row left-side seat back frame may be insufficient, which can reduce the seat’s ability to properly restrain a child during a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, “Child Restraint Anchorage Systems.”
The hazards: a child that is not properly restrained during a crash can have an increased risk of injury.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
