Thread regarding Follett layoffs

The emperor is not wearing any clothes

“Realignment” is what they call it. I call it the obvious signs of decline. Personally, I’m applying to whatever job pays more than what they demoted me to. I really love my college, so this hurts. I hope all affected find jobs that don’t ki-l their soul- the way this one has. I can’t wait until the bigger people are laid off. The ones that sit home in their Jammies. After all, this is a company that promoted someone that started working here a few months ago, but demoted several seasoned people.

RM for my region is pretty great. He was a SM and knows how to run a store. It's unfortunate that he has been put in the position to lay off half the staff in his stores. He is always on the road putting out fires and helping wherever he can. I appreciate the help he has sent our way. Unfortunately, that help will no longer be available so he will be stretched even thinner. Not all RMs are lazy... Just the ones that got comfortable.

My old RM was great. The “new guy”, been here for a few years now, still doesn’t know the job. Even he doesn’t seem to know what he’s supposed to be doing because our GVP is clueless as well and he’s been here FORever.

My old RM remains available for advice and guidance whenever I need it.

Prove to me that the RMs actually DO anything. I dare you.
Ours literally asks other store managers, excuse me, "store leaders" to go to this location or that location HOURS away from where they work to "help them out." Excuse me, is this interrupting your coffee and Price is Right time?
Explain to me again what the RM is supposed to do other than sit at home and tell everyone to keep their hours down even though we don't have any part-timers any longer.
Lord willing the RMs and GVPs are the next on the job guillotine.

Like was said on another post, RM’s, it is going to happen to you. They promoted an RM just recently that hasn’t been in his role for even a year because he’s protected by those in charge at the top.

Look at the job title for market leader. It is literally the RM's current job.

I am sure that is coming. Marketing Managers, overseeing a group of stores, to me that is an Asst. Regional Manager. There won't be a need for RM positions, they can report directly to GVP. I will laugh when that happens, can't wait for my rm to get a taste of the medicine.
