Thread regarding Follett layoffs

More work, less pay = stupid titles

Aren't these backwards?

*Campus Store Leader: 5+ years of big box, multi-unit retail management experience. Salary Grade 6 (requires more work, more years of experience and less pay)

*Campus Store Manager: 3-5 years of retail management or strong customer service experience. Salary Grade 9 (less work, more pay)

Your Campus Leader is going to have to do all the GM opening product, receiving, and merchandising and open, receive, and shelve text as well as lay out the text area. What happens when you run out of books at rush. How long will it take to get them back in and how does anyone do save the sale pull tickets? Just a thought..that's a lot for a little money.

I think something is being overlooked in all the drama.
How many stores are actually closing? Contracts not renewed? Contracts cancelled.
This drama is smoke and mirrors to get as many people off payroll before the end?

JRC is about ROI. What does the bottom line look like on their spreadsheet?

As one poster put it, they are like the Terminator...
It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until they show a profit to their investors.

@xns+1lSBQ0vM: You would think so but the Campus Store Leader is basically a glorified Operations, General Merch and Course Materials manager all in one. The job description reads just like a GM/OPs. "As a Campus Store Leader, you will support a Market Leader or Campus Store Manager overseeing store operations."

Like it was stated... more work, less pay, more headaches, more of the same bullsh-t. Stores proved they could do it all with less so less you get.

I was under the impression that the only difference between manager and leader was the sales volume of that particular location.

Salary ranges are based on geographical area, salary grades are not. Salary grades are the same across the board.

They’re backwards, but if you consider a bunch of kindergartners made these titles………

I too have questions about the Campus Store Leader requirements. Seems odd to me that it would require multi-unit experience when I am under the impression that position just runs the operations of a single store.

Salary grades are geography based.
