Voluntary severance package

There are probably many important reasons why this company has not considered voluntary severance package… What are your thoughts?

The new org is for the profit and not a charity...They have never considered voluntary layoff nor do they negotiate package as it stated on their employee website. It is NOT cost effective for an org only interested in bottom line - human capitals are all dispensable...Sadly... Knowledge lost? Oh well move on to the next acquisition...

You ought to demand a pre-employment agreement that puts in a guaranteed severance for 3-4 months if let go for anything but cause. Up front!

I bet there would be more amicable separations that way, since you know a lot of self-centered managers cut their way to greater profits much of the time.

Since there is no long term loyalty on either side these days, negotiate your severance before you start!

Imagine if everyone collectively demanded this Statewide? Hoo boy! Basic Game Theory logic tells me this is a winning strategy!

It sounds like a great idea.

Not that I can outdo chatgpt’s response…. But from a company’s perspective, a voluntary layoff is a terrible idea. In general the people that volunteer are the most skilled employees who are confident they can get another job quickly. What you’re left with are all the under-performers.

That being said, I wish they would offer a voluntary layoff because I’d be all over it
