Anyone knows when unemployment benefits kicks in? On the termination/notice day? After 60 days (notice duration) ? Or after severance period?

Depends on the state you live in. If you're like me, your last day was Mon, March 27, but with a separation date of Mar 31, so your last official paycheck is through that day. So half a paycheck next week followed by whatever severance package you got.
Lump sum incurs more taxes--which you can recapture when you do your taxes next year--but where I live that approach also allows me to start getting unemployment immediately (after whatever local government processing delays!). From my conversation, it was implied lump sum, but the Verisign email hasn't reached me yet, despite having reached out to HR to check on it (I'm sure they'll figure it out--it's not in my spam folder).
