Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

I'm getting tired of being treated this way

It's like Seagate wants to have its cake and eat it too. Whenever they need something from us, suddenly we're "family." But the minute we ask for anything, no matter how small, it's all "just business" to them. It's frustrating because it feels like they only value us when it's convenient for them. They push the "we're all in this together" narrative but then they don't hesitate to throw us under the bus when it suits their needs.

Just remember, you are just a tool in the belt. If you get rusty or unused, your gone. There is no obligation by the company to keep you.
As they keep moving management around, how can they succeed. Constant changes brings no vision and bad attitudes.
Left a year ago and I am glad I did. Good luck to you all.

If you have any other means of making a living, then start with a simple "no" next time you feel that you're being treated poorly or being told to perform some task that you know is BS. Push back. Try it. It's liberating.

All lies. You fell for that? Listen carefully. You need to consider yourself a mercenary worker on contract. You have zero loyalty. Start this mindset immediately. You maximize your personal gain within the rules whenever possible and think nothing of it. Certainly never put in over 40 hours per week. That's for fools and it almost never pays off. You need to become a really good actor and reverse exploit. Convince everyone that you are loving Seagate and the job and upsell everything you do massively as hugely significant and a heroic effort. How do you think the Directors all got that position? Real work? No. Good story tellers.

Almost 50 percent of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation.
So when you hear the word family at Seagate it makes sense.
Just replace divorce with layoff.
Seagate does not say happy family.
Just family and there are all kinds of families around.

A myth, we're just resources, expendable and replaceable

@op+ Sorry to hear that the b@st@rds have ground you down. If you can try for a internal job change. For myself personally I have found the Eng groups to be more respectful towards employees. Production management teams can be anywhere between “not so good” and um “just horrible”. A reasonable management team makes all the difference. Do what’s best for You and your family.

Then quit. It's not going to change. They don't think of us as family and never will, that doesn't make them money. Your best bet is to either quit or just collect your paycheck and save your money!

No large multinational is “family”. Don’t let any of them fool you.
