In going into the office today, I was shocked at the manned security guard needed in the cafeteria. Generally food and drinks are free. Restraurants come in to serve good food for free, and then there's the mo--ns. Well turns out people were stuffing food in their backpacks and not scanning ( the scanning is for inventory purposes. ) So the next steps are to get rid of that program. mo--ns.

Yeah every C suite at big slugs like Elevance always try to copy the dot coms (though only half execute). Not one in leadership at this org is creative enough to blaze their own trail with a new idea. It's all outsourcing, rebranding and M&As. If this company didn't have a license to print money (aka being a large insurer with a huge risk pool) this place would fail hard.
Google, Facebook, etc bring in chefs and make food an incentive. A leader wanting to appear to be “Google” like comes up with a free food vending machine idea instead 😅.
Cheap Food + Self-Serve + Security = $$$
Decent food + Server = $$$
This is the the model … do cheap first and see what they can get away with. When cheap is not accepted, blame individuals by pulling in counter measures to show the ungrateful nature of the individuals.
Just do it right the first time and live by our moto’s.
Only IT employees receive free food. And Anthem is not alone in providing this. Your peers are working very hard in many companies without those freebies. Packing lunch and dinner while knowing you have a very long day ahead. Enjoy it while you can, I truly hope the days of free food/beverages for a select group will soon end!
It’s not worth stealing in the first place.
2 to 3% raises! that's more than i got. I need that free food.
I’ve caught people stuffing M&Ms in containers to take home…guess what happened? No more free M&Ms in the kitchen a few days later. SMH
That is what happens where there is a constant threat of layoffs and 2 to 3 percent raises in 7 to 9 percent inflation.
