If you think not holding people accountable is unique to Allstate, I have a bridge to sell you. Have you been out in the world lately?

Allstate needs to get a large swath of claims folks back to the office. Period........ This is hilarious. I worked in claims for years prior to the pandemic and there were many people that didn't work then. They walked around the office or lorded over the vacation schedule instead of handling their claims. They worked at a snails pace, if at all, and when their pending got too big it got reassigned to more efficient employees. The number of maxed out C and D band employees that did next to nothing was staggering. They refused to evaluate claims on web based tools so they got reassigned to more efficient workers. While I got good raises because there were so many maxed out employees, I was told they had too many higher banded employees so I couldn't be promoted. I did the same work as someone that made three times as much as me because they refused to hold people accountable. I had a good manager that told me to transfer to another department to be afforded better opportunities. I did and never looked back. People being in the office or at home makes no difference. Allstate allows a culture to exist where not working is acceptable and rewarding higher performing employees just doesn't happen. If you brought everyone back to the office there would still be people not working. At least with having everyone remote they stop wasting money on real estate costs.

The competition is offering remote work. Good luck firing people and thinking that they can be easily replaced with people looking for on-site work. WFH is here to stay. The better move is to figure out how other companies have used it to their advantage.

In some areas that use processors some of them cherry pick the easy tasks and leave the hard or tedious for the real workers. Then they bi--h when they only get a 3 percent raise.

Allstate needs to get a large swath of claims folks back to the office. Period. This work from home experiment should not be the status quo. Lay off those that are unable to return to the office for whatever reason and hire fresh employees who can be trained onsite. This WFH thing has gone too far. Too much slacking.
