Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Looking for info on the last early retirement package

Does anyone remember the details of the last time Anthem offered an early retirement package? My recollection is that it wasn't a great offer, which isn't a surprise.
I don't expect they'll ever do one again -- they just axe people instead and thus get away with only paying out 6 months, max.

I believe that the last time is offered, was the only time in the past 25 years it was done. Depending upon how long you have been here it was not great (meaning if you have been here long enough to get the max severance - 6 months). At that time it was paying out for 9 months, and not a lump sum.
I doubt it will be offered again, unless the are targeting older workers, especially with a 19+% turn over rate.

They said it wouldn't be offered again. I qualified for it, but wasn't in a position to take the offer. Just wait for a lay off.

I was told so many good employees with a lot of knowledge took the last package just to get out and go to work for other companies that the company would never offer another early retirement package. We lost several very good employees at the time that took the last package offered. I recall people saying that it was not a great package but was enough to allow many employees still of working age the time to look for a better employer.

If memory serves, the last time this was done was in the 2016-2017 timeframe. Unfortunately I have to agree with you that it looks like an early retirement package is a thing of the past - they certainly aren't doing it now.
