Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate stock nosedive not Wilson’s fault

It’s the war in Ukraine, the banking meltdown, and inflation.

No has no blame for this one.

Does inflation affect Allstate? Of course, it affects what Allstate has to pay for goods and services, and even compensation to its employees.
But it does not affect the stock price. The stock price is measured by the value of the company compared to others in the market. That the stock price has gone down since the current banking crisis hit is not the result of inflation; it's the result of being considered a financial services company and thus in the same broad category as banks. The banks that have been declared insolvent ended up that way because of bad management decisions, not because of inflation.
So to dismiss inflation as having an effect on Allstate's stock price is not ludicrous. It's factual. And it's true.

Inflation doesn't affect Allstate? Lol. I am not here to defend TW. But that's just ludicrous. Body shop prices are way up. Replacement part prices are way up. Accidents are up. Severity is up. The stock was mostly back up before the banking crisis hit. It was probably hit too hard because by law, insurance is required to match asset and liability duration unlike banks. If you want to be in the financial sector, I would go with insurance now over banks.

33%drop in stock price over the past few weeks. Unacceptable!

Banking meltdown, yes, in part as Allstate is considered a financial services company.
Inflation - no. Not really an effect on stock prices.
War in Ukraine - double no. A war in Ukraine has nothing at all to do with the stock price of a domestic, personal lines, auto insurer.
Misguided management decisions - the primary reason.

OP…. Kissing Toms a-s in a lay off site will not save your job.

Allstate has an approach of “no excuses” for performance…except for Tom Wilson and the b-ms that surround him.
If he was a regular employee, HR would already have been consulted for termination.
