Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Can someone explain TR's rotation program?

I was recently informed that I am being moved to another team as a part of TR's rotation program. I haven't been here long enough to know whether this is good or bad. My team has been having budget issues for a while and we've steadily cut down on contractors and projects since the second half of last year.

The announcement was quite sudden and my manager and his manager say that they weren't consulted on the decision. Although they said that I can decline the role after speaking to the new manager, the undertone was that I don't really have that choice.

I am not attached to my team or TR, for that matter. I just want to know if this is a precursor to a layoff and whether I should start looking for a job change.

There absolutely is a rotations program. Look it up on atrium. Usually you apply to be part of it. They’ll let you try out a different role for 3-6 months. I’ve never heard of anyone being forced into it though…

There is no such thing as a rotation program. You're being moved because someone needed resources and your skill set was on a list someone needed.

Is the role more than a 50% change from what you were doing before? When we had the F&R split that's what HR said was the requirement for being placed in roles versus having to apply...
