Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Cigna, why isn't anyone discussing their layoff?

Cigna recently laid off, what some are saying is 4% of it's workforce with NO WARNING. No one is taking about thus disgusting act.

I was one of many whose department was eliminated in 03/24. We were instead placed in what they called a "suitable position. "I've been with the company 15 years and i wasnt offered a severance pkg but placed in a call center ( a setup). This was done so people would quit and they wouldn't have to provide a severance pkg. I wasn't given the option of a severance pkg but instead viewed as just a warm body ...placed in an unsuitable position ...where the turn over is very high. I know it's about their bottom line but I think it's only fair to give people options instead of putting them in a position where they will not thrive and eventually quit. Their mission was accomplished...everyone ended up quiting because the position was unsuitable.

I’m hearing 10% will be laid off by the end of the year.

Any news of Fall 2023 layoffs within The Cigna Group?

Also for some clarification, there were layoffs in all departments. It was company wide. In 2022 there were a lot of Accredo/Cigna employees who were laid off, but my team was all Cigna employees and they experienced “job elimination “. I had coworkers who had been laid off two years ago, who weren’t offered severance, but were told they had to interview and accept another position. This is how they ended up on the team we were on. Definitely not giving too much away, but my position over saw a lot of different operations teams, but we were Cigna Employees. I was part of the March 2023-we got the pay raise in January, then were laid off in March. The only good thing was that it didn’t take effect (for my team at least) until April so we had a paid month off with benefits before severance kicked in. That is what the “restructuring “ and team realignments are. That’s how I know they were going on in 2022 because my team worked with a lot of supervisors whose teams were effected.

Yeahhhh I was one of those people. I worked there for 5 years. My entire team including my manager was laid off. I personally know someone who had worked there for 24 years who was laid off. I also heard of someone who worked there for 30 years. They offer 2 weeks severance for every year worked, and you’re told they will sue you if you talk about it. That’s probably why.

I was laid off from Accredo/Cigna in March. One minute they give me a raise, and the next I'm fired. Apparently they laid off hundreds from multiple departments. My title was eligibility representative.

I have heard nothing about layoffs in 2023, but with all of the constant emails about restructuring departments and executive realignment, it's hard to keep straight exactly what is happening below each exec. I wouldn't be surprised, but wish you would have clarified what type of role or department was affected.

What area? All I know is there have been so many reorganizations in the past year and wondering what is really taking place behind the scenes.

Yes. I was part of that layoff. But I’m not sure what is the percentage of the group being layoff.
