I got the pink slip too. 15yrs with Dell, Inspire Awards, President's Award, no performance dings, >80% billable, survived two other RIFs. My severance was "OK" meaning one week pay per year served + bonus of 75% of target. No 8 weeks pay in addition as mentioned above. The way Dell did this was totally sh---y. A RIF is announced on public media the day before the cuts happen. In the past, if you had the red shirt, they at least had the decency to break it to you before it's announced to the world. I'm over sadness and now just pi---d off. Oh, by the way, I'm well over 50 years old.

Same for me. I'm very pi---d. The group of us laid off all had a major medical incident. I'm beginning to believe this was the criteria used to lay people off. There are people on my team who were just hired and they weren't let go. Makes no sense.
In Israel, employers contribute one month of pay into a fund every year, by law. When you leave the company, for any reasons, you receive the money as severance. Other European countries have similar rules. But then that’s socialism, right? We wouldn’t want that in the greatest country in the world.
Sorry to hear about this. Especially since I asked to be part of the RIF and was told no. I would have gladly taken the bullet for you.
I'm over 60 and 15 with Dell.
I heard Dell are giving the absolute minimum in packages.
Just what I have heard but hey.
They dont pay great when you actually work for them why pay when you leave?
Sorry to hear they got you but im sure you will come back stronger.
So sorry for you, 1 week per served year is uncalled for!
Only 1 week pay per year. Why have others gotten a month or two per year? Isn't this something that should be regulated and consistent across the board? Best of luck on the next step keep your head up.
Your second act is about to begin, and you’ll make more money and be more fulfilled in your work. God bless you.
