All of 2023 will be thinning of the herd. As a result of the pay cuts affecting everyone, many of Intel's most valuable resources will leave Intel once they have the opportunity to find another job. So, Intel's brain power will continue to decline, just when it is needed most. Someone like Costco or Walmart will end up buying Intel for next to nothing, and sell off all it's FABs to companies needing warehouse space. All of the chips Intel has in storage will be sold to Kohls to be sold as costume jewelry.
So, find yourself a new job!

The company is now in serious difficult. Pat is a hopeful person and it seems he really believes he can compete with TSMC. Also, he doesn't want to lay people off if he doesn't have to. The companies headcount compared to all other semiconductor companies is still way out of line. For these reasons, you can expect the layoffs to keep happening. Cannot afford packages for the volume of HC reduction needed. Instead turn up volume on cuts to force higher attrition. Buckle up.

I hear from colleagues at Intel that many employees are slacking off and taking vacation. They hoipe they will get laid-off next and get a nice "package". Morale is pretty at Intel

Layoffs are still taking place, but they are smaller targeted numbers. That way, it stays under the radar. I had someone in HR share that with me so believe me or not.

Why is this a news or rumor? This is common sense. Layoffs are a result of financial statements released at the end of each quarter. In a downturn cycle, layoffs are impending in each and every corp regardless of how successful they have been in the past. Be on the lookout for layoffs at the end of every quarter for the next two years.

It's a comin and will never stop. Believe it or not, this is healthy for a large business to constantly prune the ranks.

Unfortunately, Intel likes to prune the healthy branches and keep the deadwood.
