Thread regarding Ford layoffs

AICP now Annual Bonus

So now, 20% of our target next year depends on EV sales. This really cheeses me. The reason - we have very few women in upper management (they don't get it). Women make up at least 50% of the buying power for new vehicles. EVs are not viewed as being safe (e.g. what happens when an EV breaks down in the boonies?) Is roadside assistance going to bring out a bucket of electric? Unless women feels safer about driving EVs, we are not going to buy EVs.

Women won’t buy EV’s. My wife can’t even change the batteries in the TV remote.

I’m sure there’s a blonde joke in the making

Even Costco has an attendant to make sure everyone is okay at the pumps. I haven't seen any attendants at the EV charging sites. Even the ones at WHQ are at the far end of the parking lot.

There are many different photos online of Tesla vehicle hauling generators and gasoline. Effectively, converting a BEV into a EREV.

Not only can a woman pass dozens of stations that don't feel safe, but when she does stop she can splash and dash. You can do that and get enough range to get home or somewhere safer!

At a charging station you're stuck for minutes! Why do you think Ford has been trying to bring streaming to the infotainment system (on the customer's dime!) for years? But as usual they fumble at it. "Should we pay for data to let the customer try it? Or force them to but AT&T's over priced WiFi? Or should we make them pay first?" Those discussions were brutal! No "Think like a customer" ever! Just "how can we squeeze them for every penny?!".

This company is ----ed. And if you can't see that then you're part of the problem.

of course you don't agree - cause you're a guy.
I can pass 100 gas stations if i don't feel safe. Charging stations are few and far between. Have you ever been approached by a stranger asking for something and then you realize that no one is around you?

@OP
I don't agree its an issue.

  1. In theory, a well designed EV with a fully charged battery should be more reliable than and ICE vehicle due to less mechanical parts.
  2. None of the women I've ever had in my life even knew how to check the oil and were not interested, sending me to do it for them. How many women can fix a broken down vehicle?
  3. Vehicles have become so complex that even guys like me that know some power mechanics and know engines, cannot fix a broken down vehicle unless its home in the garage. I can fix a broken radiator hose for example, but who has a replacement in the trunk plus a bucket to go get water?

So in summary, even an engine-savvy guy like me would have to call AAA for a tow, regardless of if its an EV or an ICE. Women can evaluate based on the published reliability of the vehicle, just like the men do. They do that already.

Do you really think that the execs are going to allow their college-aged sons and daughers, who are attending college in another state, to drive an EV? They would have to find a charging station somewhere after classes. Some of them can barely keep their cell phones charged.

The last time i contacted roadside assistance, it took them 14 hours to get back to me (from 5;00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. the next day). Think about that. It's not like anyone can just "jump start" you with an EV.

Joy is now gone and the Navigator is going to be phased out. That's my point. The powerful ladies are leaving and not being replaced.
