Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is anybody willing to leave due to pay cuts?

I've talked to quite a few people since we found out about pay cuts and not one told me this is a deal breaker for them. Nobody is happy about it, of course, nobody who is normal would be. But nobody who wasn't already looking to leave is now suddenly ready to leave. I'll be honest, I think this creates a bad precedent for the future. If the reaction is this subdued, what's to stop Intel to continue doing this on regular bases?

Ask someone in HR. More notices given since the announcement than in the history of Intel. The problem Intel has now is that companies are looking for people to hire. They will not come back. But that's okay, the dividend is still there.

The poorly designed cuts rushed only to try to avoid the small loss in Q1 show a new level of mismanagement that can only foreshadow failure and breakup. The capable and motivated will leave this year while those who should have been cut to get HC to the appropriate level will be left. How does Intel catch up in that scenario?

Applying for several external positions for the first time after 20+ years at Intel. Pay cuts were the last straw but even more troubling is the likelihood of additional cuts. Next 2 years will be a sad journey to the end.

Just landed a new job in seattle for a big software company, likely giving 2 weeks notice this week. Did the current conditions or pay situation make up my mind, not necessarily, but it sure didn't help. The new job pays more than what i would get after the cuts. Good luck to everyone whether you choose to stay or go.

Either you leave Intel or it leaves you. It is actively splitting into two. There is no question that is where it is going.

I'm tempted to go work for TSMC but the work culture is awful (know from personal accounts of a couple people), there's a reason you still see ex-tsmc employees and managers still rolling into Intel.

The only other choice for me is to work for TSMC, I heard it’s much worse there.

Funny the negative former employees posting here pretending to still be employees.

Getting manufacturing back on track - check
Industry leading client processors - check

Industry leading server processors entering the channel - check
Expanding the business - Check
Getting the government to help pay for it - Check

I won't bother to talk about Mobile Eye or Network or any of our other great properties. What about this strategy don't you like exactly? You want more of the BK milking 12nm+++++++ to present nicer financial reports?

Didn't Pat increase people's pay quite a bit in the last few years? No one complained about getting more pay while doing the same work then, but now people are unhappy about pay cut once the economy soured? If you want better pay you can either get a job somewhere else or help Intel become profitable. A company can't stay in business forever while losing money.

You still have a good paying job in an economy that will likely get worse. If the US defaults on its debt which is more than a little likely the economy will tank fast. Going now is a huge personal risk. At your new company you will be the new person who isn't producing. I am not saying stay at Intel long term but be careful on your timing.

Absolutely. This is an unforgivable deal breaker. You’re talking to liars.

I am starting job search after a long career at Intel (I have current technical skills and have previously turned down external offers). I know of many other people putting their resumes together now. I have zero faith in management and Intel’s direction.

Top talents will leave, liars, cheaters, lazy as--s will stay. Waiting for VP/CPM getting my skills in shape. Doing 25% less as this was my TCOMP cut.

Me. And other people on my team. It’s not the pay cut per se, it’s a lack of confidence in the decisions being make. This has all been so poorly executed, it’s really shaken our faith. So far, nothing seems to be addressing the root problems. I see long failing initiatives that are still being funded and highly successfully ones that have now had the legs kicked out from under them. This all seems very rushed, ill-conceived and short sighted. That’s why we’ll leave.

In EU, if you do not accept will they find a "legal" reason to layoff you?

Certainly a few of the younger talent on my team (g7) who don't have many ties are considering leaving.

But I'm in EU where we need to accept paycuts, there's a big divide on who is willing to accept them or not.

I've started taking interviews with competitors who are reaching out, though I haven't been actively searching, I wouldn't have taken their calls at all before
