Job search

This is a question for those who were laid off but I know others are also looking for a way out so if you have any advice, it will be welcome. What are you utilizing in your job search? Are you using any platforms, apps or companies that can help with your resume, and stuff like that? And did it prove to be effective?

If you have cyber skills of any kind, post them up and ensure the buzzwords for the search are all in. Ie zero trust, secure software supply chain, vulnerability management, etc. There is a huge shortage in these areas. If you don’t have these skills and can’t find a job, consider taking courses and certs to gain them

Depends on your skills, experience and role you are looking for.

"Standard" LinkedIn is a great place to start. The "paid" version is not worth it.

The challenge is connecting with the right people who can help. You can narrow your search by looking at contacts (1st and 2nd levels) with specific titles or backgrounds or locations or ex-companies, etc.

If you have 5 or less years of experience, look at the usual suspects (other IT firms who are growing - most, if not all, are publicly traded and thus announce quarterly results that show year on year growth in revenues, profits, etc. The companies who are aggressively growing should be your targets. Stay away from companies with declining or stagnant growth.

If you have 5 or more years, your primary focus would be to connect with ex-colleagues or their network.

Looking for a job is a full time job. You might hear of the lucky ones who landed a role immediately but for most of us it took months to finally secure a role.

Also, remember that the company is interviewing you for fit and competence. You need to interview them as well for fit, culture and growth potential

I personally found LinkedIn to be useful for getting leads, interviews, and an offer. Good luck!

For me, I got out the tech game. Easy choice, especially when you realize the evil intent the company has. I can't justify working for the davos people anymore.
