will it effect how you view dell or are you paranoid about future head chopping ?
I survived and I guess it makes me a bit paranoid.. but i just do my work to my best and see it out.

29 years what an accomplishment, seriously! Hope they took care of you with severance package. Hearing 2 months and 1 week for every year but probably a cap.

I'm not feeling as loyal as I once was, I applied to Lenovo last night. I'm going to focus on my AWS and Azure certs and be ready when the right opportunity comes along or if Dell decides I need to go. 25 years at the company, I'm open to a change.

I've been at Dell 29 years, got laid off on Monday. Nobody is safe for a few months (quarters).
I've been at Dell 25 years and went through the 2001, 2008 and 2020 layoffs, got impacted in 2008 but was able to come back in a few months. I still like it here becuase of my manager and new position but I'm going to become more active with networking and focus on my AWS and Azure Certs as a backup.
I'm sorry for those impacted, I hope you land on your feet soon with a better job.
Is that it, I doubt it. Very hard to layoff that number of people in that short amount of time. I'd presume there are a few more days of meetings to go.

Layoffs are part of working in tech. Especially sales. It's nothing new. The lack of job security has taught me to live within my means.
I was chopped in 2020 with 3 days notice. For those of you who survived this round, think about whether you feel any obligation to give two weeks notice when you decide to quit

I've been with the company for 10+ years and survived probably 6-7 major layoffs to this point. As an employee, it's a HUGE morale ki-ler. The layoffs are always sudden, execution-style layoffs with a last minute calendar invite, no details, and a pre-written script. After the layoff wave, it's always sad for a few months and lots of people quit out of worry.
At this point I would hate to be laid off, but I can definitely say I have heard nothing but positive things about the fairness of severance packages people are getting. It seems to be more than enough to carry people until they find a new job, plus maybe a little more.
Are they even done this week?
I feel recharged and energized knowing that I will be able accrue more inspire points now that the layoffs are behind me. Looking forward to more Applebees gift cards and finally can say I proudly own an air fryer! Maybe some of us named “anonymous” get meet at Applebees for all you can eat wings.

the bale downward spiral continues. Dell will see its sales numbers fall off a cliff in the next year not due to no opportunities simply the inability to execute on them. Are we ready to start with the over/under on the timeline to going private again? 24 months? 36 month's?
Relieved. Just moved to a new apartment and paying more than I've ever paid... Would have sucked to lose income lol. Luckily, my department is rarely touched during layoffs anyways. We escaped the 2020 layoffs, and all the smaller ones, and now this one.
This time around I would of liked the chop.
Dell has me beat and the constant change is never ending.
Its hard to see much positivity here for the next few years and maybe a new start would be best for a lot of people who like to be treated as adults.
I'm preparing to take on the extra work that will be left behind. Additional work I will have to do without receiving extra money.
I've been through tons of layoffs with Dell. You never get past being paranoid when they come through, but I don't live each day paranoid. Do your work as well as you can, move around and gain varied experience, collect certs, and generally keep yourself marketable. That is true of all jobs really, you're never safe.
