WTF. I’ve had two recruiters tell me that Thomson used to look great on a resume, but anyone who is half talented has already left TR. That anyone left here cant get hired anywhere else or is just riding it out until retirement and/or milking the system. Am i stuck here?? I’ve been an over quota achieving rep for 6+ years. You’d think I wouldn't have trouble finding anything….but getting discouraged. Help!

I was laid off from TR in November and spent the last few months job searching, and I haven't encountered anything like that. I have encountered a few people who have no idea what Thomson Reuters is and what they do -- one pronounced Reuters as "Rooters," which made me want to chuckle -- but no one who was outright negative about it.
I call bull on that story. I am down on TR but that smells of ‘fake news’
I also agree that this sounds made up, if not embellished upon. Unless the company is a recently disgraced one and has made headlines from this, it is in poor taste for any recruiter to speak negatively about a company. They are focused more on the job candidate's skills and experience than of employer names.
Sounds made up.
It shouldn't be a bad thing. I wouldn't talk to recruiters who make blanket comments like that. While there are plenty of people who are doing just what he said, there are still quality people at TR. That's also true of most companies the size of TR. Though TR has a bad rep with recruiters in certain locations because of the constant layoffs, they don't want to send their candidates to TR because it makes them look bad to place people who end up getting let go in the yearly cycle.
Unsolicited, but have your resume reviewed by a professional resume writer. Thomson Reuters is on a huge upswing, brand and tech-wise, imo. It should be looked at very highly, especially if you'e applying for companies that have a HQ in the UK. Which products and/or business unit were you supporting, maybe it's in how your resume/linkedin is framed.
Actually, I got selected for an interview when I was job hunting because I worked for Thomson Reuters. This is East Coast, though. Not sure what other places think of the company.
