Midland Movers

Heard a rumor here in Houston that everyone who moved to midland in the past 36 months is going to be permanently employed in Midland. Zero opportunity to come back to Houston. No matter who says what in your chain. Any truth to this. Was asking about a friend who volunteered to move to save his job. Now wants to come back and the rule of thumb is zero for everyone to avoid an all out HR crisis. Anyone know of this? Seems too blanket level for me to believe.

I know I am not a hi-pot. I have to b1tch and complain tooth and nail every 3 years to get a diff rating - just enough to keep me sticking around here. Other than that, I am a solid 3. Hipots are most likely getting 1 and 2s annually for multiple years.

I think I am mostly okay with that. Just keep me progressing in SGL every 5 years at this point and I will keep my head down and do respectable work with a fairly high quality.

I wish they would tell you if you are identified as a hi-pot. If you are not you might as well leave the company or stop trying to get ahead and relax.

“Dual head offices”? Are you referring to the midland and houston offices? If so, I don’t think that’s accurate 😂

I know people going back to Houston for different jobs. What a bunch of BS. Of course they are not going back to do the same job they had in Midland. They are now in different roles.

The only people that are moving back are those that get off the Permian BU.

Anyone who thought that was temporary was woefully misinformed. Midland is the final stop on the express train to oblivion. Good luck to all.

Seems too blanket also. But unless you have been secretly identified as a hi-pot, or maybe all hipots know they are one of them, there probably isn't much chance to come back. That is the risk of moving for a job. I think we all thought that Midland was going to be a temporary move and that all that work could be done from Houston. But now since we have dual head offices, they may be stuck
