Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

I see a lot of promotions

A lot of promotions are happening at the top level, director and above. Mostly driven by suck-up-ability.

The b.s. index is high in this company.

"Majority of people I work with in tech don't have the experience and were just hired by people they've worked with. I heard a comment from a MVP on a topic in which her comment showed she didn't know what the heck she's doing. She was brought in by her former boss who is an EVP."

That's exactly it.
They are hiring their equally inept friends who don't have a clue about technology.
That's why they come to meetings throwing around buzzwords and their prime directive is to make each other look good and get rid of anyone who understands technology.

It's an unbreakable circle of cr-p.

I see that most of the Directors and above do not have any certifications, it only shows that the promotions are not fair, the entire process is smelly. You can survive in this company only if you are willing to suck up and kiss lot of a—s.

C1 is essentially a cult. You drink the kool aid and then just robotically follow the formula for success at C1: kiss a-s, don’t question anything, use all of the “buzz” words, make lots of slide presentations, be really excited about everything you do, and tell everyone how much you admire Rich and his strategies. Oh, and be younger than 45…

I see the promotions in LinkedIn ... EVERYONE has got to ask themselves ... do we know of or hear about any of our executive leadership taking a pay cut, taking less LTIs , OR doing anything that would help reduce the impact of the number of people impacted? The answer is NO, is today and has always been. All you need to know about how you are viewed. Remember that next time you pass up a family event or kids activity for work.
