I can't think of one decent, respectable function in the entire company. Is there one?

@5eof, that's because they don't know Chevron until they hire on. If they're under 40, they'll stick around a couple years, then move on again. If they're over 50, they'll grin and bear it until retirement.
All the respectable functions are on the layoff.com all day. Pat yourselves on the back if you haven't already.
And yet people still fill the open positions from other companies.
All the functions are "respectable", if you're looking at diversity, network membership, volunteer activity, promises, etc. If you're looking at performance, capability, competence, etc., you're out of luck. Across the board.
What you are experiencing is the outcome of the progressive way of thinking. You must destroy all history, culture, stability, loyalty, pride, optimism and sense of enjoyment. Everything from the past is bad. Past success was rooted in inequity, racism and privilege. Let’s all be miserable. Are we done yet?
Sir this is a Wendy’s. Our Frosty is respectable. For any function.
Chevron is all about playing social engineering games. When you got Australia, Tengiz, and the Permian, you don't need. competence. Competence is for the little people.
When we lost our competency we lost our respect and decency.
the fact that you have to ask says it all
Yes
Chevron had a respectable function, until they laid me off along with the job position. Now they have one less respectable function or perhaps none at all.
HR does a good job - exactly what management asks them to do. Recruiting, retension, rating, pay and dealing with employee issues.
Hey, we're talking respectable here.
I always thought that average() was a pretty decent function.
Nope, not one. You want competence go to Exxon, You want decent go to Google.
