Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It's a never-ending cycle

Intel overhires to make sure it has enough "fresh meat" when the time comes for the next round of layoffs. Then when layoffs hit, half of the newly hired people are laid off to artificially balance the average age of those who were let go, and the other half is kept on to do theirs along with extra work for less money. Rinse and repeat. If you expect to see this change, you'll be waiting a long time.

Intel has an army of Empire builders. These people, comprising of managers and senior technical (supposedly!) Folks, hire people and convince clueless execs to use the headcount numbers as a measure of performance. That is the simple reality.

Don't forget about the army of green badge workers (temps) they keep around to do our work for less pay and no benefits when they lay us off. Then morale and the quality of work goes down while the CEOs sit around with their thumbs up their back-sides wondering what happened.

"Quite hiring" Intel has been at it for years.
Slowly adding extra work loads to low level job roles to increase work content to HC ratio in the long run.
