@c8 you understand that the medical healthcare caps have been breached at this point, right?

Wishful thinking, just work until you are 70 so you can’t enjoy retirement. Suffer brother……..

People on here no nothing about craft Eipp offers. In NY we go by geographic areas as fixed in contract. NYC being FAA1. Surplus announced by job title only. 2024 VZ surplused 77 field techs in FAA1. By seniority number was reached. The tech who filled slot 77 had over 34 yrs.

@at absolutely they canvassed in past, central offices are spread out with only one tech per location that is manned.

@at Witnessed many times where the locations were offered are where the techs who wanted to retire, also witnessed them offer it to techs they wanted to get rid of, the ones who are always out on disability or useless.
Maybe they dont where you work but they do where I work.

@at Facts are rarely checked before posting anything on this site. It is like a teenager posting pics on Instagram to see how many likes they get.

@am 100% factually incorrect and it has never been done that way, you can simply call your local Union HQ or HR to verify this. The company doesn’t canvass employees to see who is interested is retiring and then offer to those locations who said “yes”. Again it has NEVER been done that way and it never will be done that way.
Over the years we have seen locations where 1/2 the location wanted to retire and no EISP was even offered and other times and EISP was offered and no one took it.

Central offices are no different , and again this is EASILY fact checked

@ac Not true, they offer the eisp to the address of the employees that are interested in taking it, this is in the central office where people are spread out.

@ac Not disagreeing with what you said but people also need to be aware that if they opt for the pension the money is not really theirs, but more like a promise of future payments that is dependent upon the the good will and solvency of the payer. If you take the lump sum, that money is yours immediately, and can go to heirs. Pluses and minuses on both sides.

@a9 gotcha, that’s pure speculation though. We all “think” August will be the EISP mainly because Aug 1st if then the major reorg goes into effect. I would also advise (if you haven’t) to talk with a financial adviser. The GATT rate only affects your lump sum and I keep hearing many people who plan on taking annuity say that the can’t retire because the “pension is in the toilet”. “IF” you are not planning on the lump sum payout than your pension is in fact not in the toilet. (You may know all of this, just making mention if not).

FYI supervisors also have zero impact on how/when the EISP will be offered (I’m guessing g they were just asking you out of curiosity). AD’s usually (who knows if it will go the same as years past) will provide which locations they feel are over headcount/can offer an EISP once that comes down from above them. Once the number/locations are set notification gets sent out (hopefully they will over subscribe)

Again your Union should be the place to get this info not this board or a LM

My supervisor told me a month or so ago that a eisp is coming in "August" and asked if I would be interested, I suppose he asked me because I had mentioned to him before I am thinking retirement when the conditions improve like my pension which is presently in the toilet compare to 4 years ago goes up, it actually dropped again July 1st.

The factual info was that nothing was announced. We all think one is coming but there has been zero official confirmation as of yet. I would “guess” that nothing will announced until (at least) after Aug 1st.

I will state that your local union officer would be the proper way to get information about an EISP and not this board
