Forget layoffs, its the upcoming PEPs and ' special assignments ' that will be used to cull the ranks. Whoever is over 50 and pension eligible regretfully are targets followed by Director's choice of whoever they want removed. This round will also target senior leaders that have not performed, LL2/3/4s. FLV and the id--ts of Ford Next are a huge target as well as design orgs that overlap.

ha ha, reapply for my current position... ya, right. That's the sign of a company that's about to collapse and I'd rather they pay me to go away at that point than try to hold on to be miserable and still need to find work in a handful of months once the final collapse arrives.

As the lower cost locations ramp up there are more and more US salaried who are told to find another position via jobs online (and curiously are not qualified for any position).
The goal of course is for those employees to voluntarily resign/retire. Everyone knows involuntary cuts will occur for those who don’t get the message and leave.

There is a proposal floating around that would require all employees in certain areas to become untethered from their current positions and be required to reapply to their current position/other position. This is so leaders can mindfully select their teams - not be saddled with prior leaders choices. If we had competent leaders I could see this being a good thing - talent redistributed to the best spots for them. But as we all know the leaders are not up for the task. We shall see.

I’ve decided to break out the popcorn and watch the show. I’m done worrying. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop and I’ll do what’s next when the time comes. Either they value me and what I bring to the table or don’t. I can’t change that.

As much as I know that "massive layoffs" coming on Monday is BS, I also would be happy to have it over and done if I got chopped after worrying about it for nine months straight. This past year has been like watching a line to the guillotine get shorter and shorter as it rolls toward me a person at a time...

Legend (JF) stated bank in September that the oval was hiring 9k Mexicans. For the past few years Ford has been building up the PD center in Mexico. A design center that is state of the art. So do stand like a ostrich with your head buried in the sand. Despite the lies from Legend they will shift all PD south of the border.
If they want to save money they should send senior management jobs down there since Legend and his clowns surely don't know what they are doing.

Predicting JF and BF will be laying off US salary workers each year is like predicting spring rains and fall leaves changing colors. It will happens every year until we are all gone. Ford leadership hates we exist.

None in Model e. Which makes sense as why would the company want to weaken the most important division in the company? DF is strategically growing Model e in focused areas to keep the company transformation on track.
