Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Thursday is gonna be a layoff blood bath Hearing from my buddy who is also concerned in basking ridge soon after will be associate union Eisp

So apparently a lot of people thru out the Verizon footprint are pretty worried. The basking ridge Nj folks have been talking amongst themselves about possibly a big number of them being riffed 7/16 .They have been told it will affect entire departments.Sounds like on the union associates side they will be offering the Eisp soon after .Sounds like they want to cut 2000 union positions thru packages.Im not too fluent in the contracts but I wonder if they don’t get the number they want with a package can they proceed then with a layoff or additional packages .I would be even more concerned in some areas about being forced adjusted based on the numbers of takers and no takers in certain areas !!

@b5 Are you new at VZ? Exactly when was there a year that wasn't full of FIF's... ever.
I don't know how old this board is.. at least 10yrs... But if you go back as far as it goes, you will find layoff complaints every single year. I still remember when there where over 220 thousand employees... What's left?? 100k? + whatever they got back from Frontier. They'll keep doing rifs, as surely as they will keep transferring work to outside groups (India). Lowell & Hans destroyed this company with poor decisions... And hiring the CEO that built up PayPal (while everyone was locked in their house during the pandemic) and then cratered the stock before they kicked him to the curb in 2023 (to pursue new opportunities) wasn't exactly a great move.
The old Bell Atlantic/Verizon hasn't had a leader with any vision since the days of Ray Smith & Ivan.

But it will always have RIF's... as sure as the sun sets in the west.

Basking Ridge is leased. McAdumbs sold it like most of the other Verizon assets to buy Yahoo and AOL. It’s a dinosaur.

The union contract has a clause that allows Vz to offer an Eipp(Eisp) in a specific job title that doesn't lead to layoffs.

@bd I guess you don’t see non union associates on here begging all the time for a severance. But the union guys who wanna retire say “if I don’t get a package I will stay 4 more years”. Yeah, that’ll show em. Keep working and waiting for a fantasy offer and don’t go enjoy retirement

@b9 So none union associates honorably receive a “ severance “ but union associates beg for a eisp ? GFY .

@OP Wow, same post as all the other EISP post. More union begging and then “they better up the offer or I am staying”!

@a4 13,000 layoffs last November, hundreds in May of this year, and god knows what number tomorrow (hearing 6,000?) but yeah sure, I guess it's no big deal? 🙄🙄
