Any other groups asked to come in and work the holiday? This company can get bent. maybe stop laying people off and forcing people to quit and you won't be behind.

Wait they ask you you all to work. We are told to work, I wish I worked at your location. Sounds like a dream gig.
@ed get off it. They want us to work the holiday because their financials are down not because of some patriotic lotalty. Lay offs, attrition, high bonuses for corporate blood su-kers, and loss of work is the problem. That all being said go ahead and work the holiday Rambo and enjoy the reward of a lay off next quarter.
The reference to "the middle east" doesn't have anything to do with business. The most recent leadership has their origins and their allegiance to that region and have a disdain for holidays that are uniquely American. 4th of July means nothing to them. 911 is something they quietly celebrate (for now). And, we've all noticed what they have done to our time off for Christmas. Hiring and promoting has been slanted towards people from that region as well. Remember the exclusively Indian-only upgrades in Clifton a few years ago?
What kind of American defense contractor would hire a former Pakistani Army captain as an operations director??
Please. Don't make me laugh. Want proof?
This post will "self-destruct" as soon as someone from the company reads it.
@b8 you obviously dont work here if you think we all work on projects dedicated to the "Middle East"
You're afraid to refuse because you've got no place else to go.
@OP the sad truth is certain countries in the Middle East do not care about American Independence Day.
@OP As we celebrate America250, please work on Independence Day. Show your pride with limited edition America250 merchandise from our company store.
"Wishing you a safe and happy Independence Day."
