Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Why RIF‘s? When will it stop?

One reason I can think of is that FIS has been an undervalued stock, with its share price near a 15-year low. Investors haven’t been happy, and management is under pressure to show improvement. My assumption is that these actions will slow down once the stock starts performing better.
As for why they’re doing gradual cuts instead of one massive reduction, it could be to make the numbers look more like organic improvement rather than a drastic restructuring.
Having spent more than 10 years with the company, I feel that compared to some of our competitors, FIS hasn’t been performing as strongly. The easiest way to quickly improve financial metrics is to reduce operating expenses. However, I don’t fully agree with that approach.

Any other thoughts?

They’re also reducing staff to lowers salaries to pay out, benefit premiums, taxes to pay, work comp insurance and 401k matching. FIS has acquired several companies during this time too! And that takes money.

@OP it won't stop until the company is sold. The stock price is going down everyday and the value is less than 20 Billion now and continuously going down by the day. Some crazy company may buy thinking this company has lot of clients and they can improve it (In their dreams).

they are doing the cuts at a speed that keeps them just under the threshold for various labour laws. investors are not stupid, they can see the writing on the wall.
I suspect capital markets is being prepared to be sold. minimise costs and head count to make it more attractive.
mind you, I have little faith that leadership have any real plan.
