Honestly, does anyone expect anything to improve here, or has everyone already lost hope? I don't know anyone who isn't looking for something else.

HAMR was supposed to be ready a few years ago. We're sick of hearing that "next year will be the year".It will too late.
If HAMR really works it will bo-m. If it doesn't it's toast. Start praying.
one is selling real estate, one is seeking a merger, and one is seeking to take advantage of both, so gonna be awhile to better
The management should:
- Close down SSDC and bring jobs back to US.
- RIF half of the Staff engineers and above.
competitor’s product diversity and vision has them seeking a merger to spin off their flash business, an asset better than selling real estate The industry infrastructure is incompatible with a data center centric business model
All good messages and it true, lots of retiring engineers. I was one of them.
Seagate is unique in one thing, protecting the dividend over it's own future. So many projects to reduce wafer steps, increase yields and experiments to transducer structure and design were sacrificed just to keep that dividend intact. That amounted to shoestring engineering budgets that hamstrung the future of the company. BTW, can someone explain to us where the h_ll is lidar?!
Don’t compare Seagate with other companies. Other competitors have vision and product diversity. This is a dying technology company just like the music tapes which are extinct now
50% of this company should be sent home…it’s rather shameful how the CEO lives each day justifying the existence of a dysfunctional HR, Business Excellence, Sales, marketing and product teams, they add zero value.

Will get worse before it gets better. 6-9 months. All cloud customers are cutting expenses and laying off - public information, doesn't take a genius.
Any building sold?
not expect change, it’s toast
I always said they should not bother hiring new grads and let whatever experienced force left to "wind down" US engineering. Unless there is a cheap path that gets us to get to 10 T/platter, future growth is over.
Seagate is a company, for people planning to retire in the next 3-5 years. Look around and you will see that most engineers are 50+
For youngsters - this is a great company to work for about 5 years -- learn as much as possible and then leave. There will be no growth for young engineers..
Do not expect promotions or huge raises .. Use Your time in Seagate to embellish your resume and update your technical knowledge
