Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Wages and HR Policy

Global looks like their wages are dogshit, especially for the industry. Worldpay was not perfect but much more competitive, nd most of the new HR including the Head of HR are Worldpay folks not Global folks. A good sign for the future of employee benefits?

There is a cost to harmonize benefits. HR administrates what leadership decides. While wages may increase, look closely at the levels of people getting laid off and where work is moving. There is a bigger issue brewing. LinkedIn documents this.

In my short time with GP, I have noticed something. When teams or companies are merged together, the new people being folder into the existing team are always 'the darlings'. They get the leadership roles. That lasts until the next team is folded in or the next merger happens. Then the cycle repeats itself.

@k4 hopefully I’m wrong but the best predictor for the future behavior is past behaviors. I hope I’m wrong and admittedly a little jaded but I feel pretty confident your optimism is short sighted. But I am open to being wrong and would happily eat crow if I am

@bf Maybe this time will be different? All of GP's previous acquisitions, have they ever incorporated the leadership of the new company this much? Functionally this is operating more like a merger than anything else

When GP acquires a company, they flip it upside down. Say goodbye to competitive pay increases, culture, any additional benefits you used to have that afforded you a work life balance. Just because HR looks to be mostly WP folks doesn’t mean much. HR is there to protect the company and the companies policies. They aren’t going to advocate for much. And if they do, that doesn’t mean GP will listen. GP is only concerned with lining their own pockets and the boards pockets. Not ours.

@OP just wait until GP fully takes over - every acquisition has been horrible. Any benefits you had before will def be worse in the future, whether it’s medical or just simple flexibility type stuff. They don’t care at all about any culture you want to retain
