What would happen if everyone just walked out on the day they started the return to the office and refused to go back till they put things back to hybrid or remote? I mean, if everyone left, they would have to negotiate with us... Cause I don't think they can fire everyone. Like, even if some of the other offices walked out in solidarity?
I know this is a fever dream, but they would be so sc--wed if everyone organized and pushed back on this.

While the entire company was working from home, the business was making record profits.
The psychology of making people go back to the office is strictly to reduce the workforce and not have to do layoffs.
When the staff goes back to the office and they get the true headcounts... They will then know how many must be laid off.
I would like it if everyone was to Unionize. It would be incredible, normally I wouldn't ever support this idea, especially for a small business.
But in this type of situation, it would solve a lot of problems, they are such a big company and often treat people as just A badges that are replaceable.
The down side of forming a union would be protecting the horrible employees that are useless. And also they would get rid of the profit sharing. But we could command real wages instead of being underpaid.
Such a shame what Fidelity has turned into. I've noticed the micromanaging is at an All Time high
They have 100,000 H1B visas on standby for just such an occurrence

@a1 Why do you think people who can perform their job from anywhere need to be in a company building, at a company desk, to do it? Why does physical location need to be a requirement when we've proven over the past ten years that we can be more successful working from anywhere? Why is it relevant that other jobs which have a need for a physical presence can't work remotely when these jobs clearly do not have that same need? Why restrict the ability to work from home when it benefits the employee and employer? Why is it entitled for someone who has successfully worked remotely for years to not want to return to an office?
If your only answer is because the company said so then you don't have much of a leg to stand on.
@a1 The option to work from home was one of the driving factors in choosing IT as a career. Companies that took away that privilege no longer meet our needs. I didn’t become a doctor or a shopkeeper because I wanted to work from home. It's not that we are special, but it should be a benefit available to us by default.
Why do you all think you are entitled to work from home? There are positions at Fidelity that have never worked from home even during the shutdown.(mail services). Why do you all think you are so special?
There are also plenty of occupations that require you to work at the “office “- grocery, medical, legal, etc.
Why do you think you shouldn’t have to come into an office? It is a requirement of the job.
If you don’t like it you have the ability to do something about it. You have the power to make your life happier. What if you took all of this energy and applied it to finding a job that makes you happy.
You will thank yourself for doing it.
