Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Hours cut will that effect my benefits?

My hours have been cut to 28 hrs will I lose my health coverage. I can barely afford it now because my hours were less but now with this latest cut I'm afraid I'm going to lose my coverage all together. Thoughts anyone.

Full time is 28-40 hours.
You have to average 30 per week over the course of the year to keep medical benefits

The company looks at your average hours each quarter for benefit eligibility. Pick up an extra shift here and there and you will be fine. If you fall below the 30 average you will get a warning from the company and given another quarter to get your hours up.

No.. 28 hours is one day less than your normal FT schedule. Your classification does not change to PT it will stay FT.

If my memory serves me correctly, you would still be able to maintain your full time status with benefits at 28 hours.

If you are full time and Macys is cutting your hours to the point you are going to loose your health coverage they must notify you in advance that your position has been changed to part time, you also qualify for unemployment pay for your loss of hours, they must give you notice that your position has been cut from full time to part time due to “lack of work”
