Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

I keep going back and forth on this

One day I think we've got what it takes to climb back up. We've still got plenty of smart people and good products. But then I look at how far we've fallen and I wonder if we'll ever get that back. So I'm asking all of you. Do you think we'll find our way up again, or are those days behind us for good?

Opentext legacy products are not weathered for market in 2000s

No matter how hard we try, we are not learning any new. All product manger are there to find a way to facelift existing slow system. I would also blame Shanon B on this, who literally removed all newer market leaders from work, and better processes as well, with her own notepad and sheet based apps, and hire PMO that are good for elevator talk only

When you dont have a single competitive products in house, what will trigger creativity to compete

OpenText is in hospice. Yes, there are many smart people here, but the products are long in the tooth and not worth the time and effort to invest in them. When Mark B was here he created excitement out of nothing that made investors think there was a future and customers thinking innovations were right around the corner. Once Mark B left, the truth came out that’s there is nothing to see here other than a company that will continue to decline while still making the ELT and some investors rich. We are following the Sears model keep going as long as executives can make money, but don’t give a damn about customers or employees.

All you can hope for is the managed decline to remain orderly for another year or two.

It’s never going to be a rocket ship, and I don’t expect to survive here long enough (whether I leave voluntarily or by the hand of HR) to see whatever modest turnaround they might be able to pull off.

"We've still got plenty of smart people" ...

The problem is the smart people are not calling the shots. The Chairman of the Board and his hand-picked BoD and ELT are in charge, and they have not given any hint they are up to the task of turning this thing around. In fact, they have accelerated the descent in recent months.

Arrogance and stupidity are a lethal combination.
