Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Firing Today June 9, 2026

A friend in GD was fired today for not going into the office. No severance package, realy firing. Has this happened in any other group? Was this just GD or did it occur in other BUs/CFs?

There are so many great companies and good jobs with better pay. You should just leave. It's not worth your time and stress.

When someone quits or get fire, they don't normally rush to backfill. Management will wait to see how well the remaining team can take on more tasks and responsibilities. If the existing team struggle, they outsource it.

If they fire, can they backfill the position?

The company already selected who they wanted to get terminated and I think it has nothing to do with RTO. They are only using not following RTO has a reason to let people go. As the other person had posted, I've seen many people hardly coming in and they haven't been impacted. I had a manager that lived a few blocks from the office and force us to go in while he stays at home. He's been promoted. Meanwhile, I have a friend that have been consistently going into the office for 4 years straight, working hard 8+ hours a day, while his team comes in maybe once a month/quarter/year. He got laid off last year but his team is still employed. They tried so many ways to force him to quit until they gave up and laid him off.

@OP
No, I really haven’t. I’m in JAB and know a few people that almost never come in. Just for a meeting here and there, maybe once a month. They received the warning emails but I’ve not heard of anyone truly getting fired.
I’ve seen tons of colleagues laid off over the years and a few in the March wave hit my team directly but no firings.
